The Creamy Sauce Really Takes This Meal To The Next Level

I always make this wonderful chicken alfredo when I feel like having something tasty, super fast, and easy to put together. We often have dinner parties with friends and take turns bringing side dishes, entrees and desserts. This makes the perfect meal for those occasions because it’s made in a slow cooker!

I work from home, but I still don’t have too much extra time to slave away in the kitchen for these special dinners. So the slow cooker comes in handy – and when the meal is done, I can carry the whole thing with me and serve it hot, straight from the crock pot.

This creamy chicken alfredo recipe is the best one I’ve ever tried – and trust me, there have been many! This reminds me of the dish my grandmother used to make – although she did not use a slow cooker back then… I guess many things are a lot easier these days, than they were all those years ago!

This Simple Southern Comfort Food Is All You Need To Make Your Family Happy

Ladies and gentlemen, what you’re about to witness may be the very best chicken and dumplings recipe ever known to man. My family sure is crazy about it, and so is everyone else that ever happens to come by when we’re having this classic comfort dish! I always make a double batch – I know people are going to want seconds (or even thirds), and I’d like to have some leftovers for the next day, too!

I believe this recipe is very close to the one my late grandmother always made. Unfortunately, her recipe has gotten lost over the years but my mother agrees with me that this is as close to her old recipe as it gets. And we all know that old-fashioned recipes are always the tastiest, don’t we?

I cannot imagine a better way to warm up after a day outside in the chilly weather, than a big serving of chicken and dumplings. There is something so very cozy and comforting about it! And with a recipe like this one, you will double the pleasure.

This Is A Recipe Everyone Should Know By Heart!

There are some meals that always seem to hold their place in our dinner rotation. They became our favorites when we were kids, now our kids are enjoying them, and probably their kids and grandkids after them. These timeless dishes are the ones that I call comfort food. They’re always there to save you when you’re having a bad day, when there just doesn’t seem to be enough time for everything, or when you simply feel like having a meal that will never ever let you down.

Biscuits and gravy. As soon as I hear those words, my mouth starts to water and it brings back special memories from my childhood. Buttermilk biscuits, to be exact, were my grandma’s specialty – and we kids were drooling in the kitchen, waiting for them to be ready.

I can eat buttermilk biscuits with pretty much anything; cream cheese and jam, butter and honey, peanut butter – you name it! People think I’m weird, trying all these different combinations… But of course, nothing beats biscuits and gravy, no matter what flavors I experiment with.

Quick Tip: You should always spoon the flour into the measuring cup and level with a knife. Scooping the flour will make it pack into the measuring cup and result in too much flour.

It doesn’t get any better than this!

When my kids were younger, I was a stay-at-home mom. My sister lived only about a mile or so from our house, and she had three kids to take care of in her housewife position too.

A lot of the times, our husbands would work 12 to 16 hours a day, so there were plenty of times when we got together for lunch, dinner, and other activities. It was nice to have another adult around, plus our kids loved to play with one another. It gave us a reason to get out of the house, and it kept the little ones entertained for hours which is always a nice break when you have been stuck in the house for any length of time.

One of our favorite things to do was walk down to the town park, which was just a few blocks from my house. We would load the kids up in wagons and strollers and pack a nice lunch and head down there for the day, or at least for a few hours.

Southern fried chicken was one of the main entrees that I would often make and toss in the picnic basket. It was something different than a sandwich or sub for a change. Even if there were just a couple pieces for me and my sister that were left over from dinner, it made the perfect meal.

Argo cornstarch, baby spinach, bacon, baking powder, baking soda, barilla pasta, Bertolli extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, Bob's Red Mill, Borden, brown sugar, Campbell’s soups, casserole, chicken breasts, chicken broth, Chiquita, Clabber Girl, College Inn, Cool Whip, cornstarch, crock pot, Daisy sour cream, DeLallo mini potato gnocchi, dessert, Dole, domino sugar, eat, Eggland's Best eggs, food, Gold Medal flour, granulated sugar, Green Giant, Hershey, Hodgkin’s Mill, Italian seasoning, Jell-O, Jif peanut butter, Johnsonville, keebler, kosher salt, Kraft, land o lakes butter, Libby, McCormick spices, mirepoix, Morton salt, Pam Cooking Spray, Pepperidge Farm, Philadelphia cream cheese, poultry seasoning, Powdered sugar, recipe, Ritz crackers, Sara Lee, Sargento, slow cooker, Thorn Apple Valley, Toll House, TruMoo milk, tyson, vanilla, vanilla extract, Vlasic, Wesson vegetable oil, whipped topping

The first time I ordered gnocchi, I had no idea that it was dumplings. I was under the impression that it was some rice like dish, but after ordering, my husband informed me that is risotto. What is it with all these fancy and weird names? Anyway, we were at an elegant restaurant and I did not want to cause a scene and reorder my food, so I just figured I would give it a go. Finding out it was potato based reassured me a little more because I knew I would enjoy it at least a little. When the food arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the presentation. Then came the moment of truth.

I popped one into my mouth and as I chewed it up, I think I went to heaven and came back. This is the heavenliest dumpling dish I have ever tried. Full of cheesy goodness, these are like little raviolis, but shaped prettier than that. Well, as soon as we got back home, I looked up how to make this at home and realized that these came frozen, so I got to work and created this. It is a soup with chicken some gnocchi inside… a variation of what I was served that evening at the beautiful restaurant.

What is a great dump meal? One that is full of creamy goodness and you have both your main meal and sides all in one dish. I used to think that would require so much cooking and prep time and was not really looking forward to that aspect of married life. I was afraid of spending way too much time cooking and cleaning up that tiny kitchen of mine. That is, until I received a wonderful gift at my bridal shower.

I remember being at my bridal shower, awaiting the time to open all the gifts. One after the other, they were gorgeous, but someone gave me the most practical of them all: a crock pot! I was kind of unsure as to how I was supposed to use it because I had never in my life seen one or tasted anything that was made in one. However, I decided to be adventurous and give it a go (at least adventurous for me!). I looked up recipes on Pinterest and found many good ones, one of my favorites being a creamy recipe of chicken and dumplings. I mean, how can you go wrong with such a simple and delicious recipe like that?!
