If You Love Lemon, These Luscious Layers Will Sweep You Off Your Feet!

I was walking down the street last week, in the freezing cold wind, desperately hoping I could live somewhere else during the winter months. It’s not like I’m new to snow and ice – I’ve lived here all my life, but I just can’t seem to get used to it. I would happily move to Florida or pretty much any place where you can wear T-shirts and flip flops all year long.

To make myself feel better I decided to make the most summery dessert I could think of! Lemon delight is something we always had in the summer when I was little, although there’s no reason why it should only be considered a summer dish.

I found an awesome recipe on Crouton Crackerjacks and I thought it looked super easy, so I gave it a try. It wasn’t just easy – it was also way too yummy and I probably would have eaten half of it on my own, but my family made me share! I Call These The 3 Layers Of Happiness

I’ve got a real treat for you today! I stumbled upon a blog called Positively Splendid, and found these super delicious looking dessert bars that Amy had made. I could almost taste them just by looking at that beautiful picture! Of course, I couldn’t wait until the next special occasion to make these… I had to get the ingredients that same day and whip up a batch immediately!

These pecan cheesecake squares are made of three layers, all equally delicious. I would happily eat any of these layers on their own if that was possible! But since they are combined so perfectly in Amy’s recipe, I do not mind enjoying them all in one bite.

I intend to make these over the holidays; it’s going to be crowded at our house so I need a dessert that is easy to double, or even triple, and also super simple to serve. Not to mention, absolutely scrumptious! I would never want to compromise on flavor and with this recipe, you certainly don’t need to.

Quick Tip: Cut into bite-sized pieces and freeze for a quick treat to go with your coffee, whenever you need one!

Ever since I was little, I loved dips.  I love dipping crackers, chips cookies, apple slices and cheeses.

I can never get enough!!  Dips, to me, equal party.  They either equal Sunday football, or Christmas party.  I have been known to eat an entire bowl of dip before people arrive.  I have been kicked out of the kitchen when my mom is making the dip as well, because I keep sticking my finger in. This dip is a perfect holiday mix.  My neighbor Anne makes it every single place.

It has cheese and nuts and lots of yummy sauce over the top.  It is a real Christmasy dish and people will go nuts over it if you bring it.  Mix it up with different nuts, or add some more seasonings for a new twist.  Make this for yourself, or make this for a crowd.  But I suggest making the crowd version, even for yourself because it is that good.

Quick Tip: Make sure not to use yellow mustard so it does not change the color of the dip.

When I went to my best friend’s daughter’s graduation party last year, they had come up with quite the spread of food.

It’s no secret that I’m kind of a dessert freak. Anytime that I see something that I’ve never tried before, I just have to have it. At the end of the table, there were Rice Krispie treats, well at least that’s what I thought they were. I figured I could skip those for something else. Who hasn’t had a Rice Krispie treat before? That was until I got closer.

They weren’t what I thought! They were covered in all kinds of ooey and gooey looking deliciousness. I absolutely had to try that. I already love the original Krispie treats, but I’ve never had one like this. I’ve tried them with candy in them but this was above and beyond.

It’s like they were made especially for adults. The flavor of these was incredible. I actually had to sneak up and get another one! They looked just like this recipe from Spend With Pennies. Now that I have it, I can make them for myself whenever I want.

Quick Tip: Use a smaller pan for thicker treats.

With the holidays right around the corner, I am in full-on baking and treat concocting mode.

How about you? I’ve made a new treat just about every single day for the last week.

Yesterday, I made the Nitpickers no-bake pumpkin cake recipe, which you can find right here on Recipe Roost. Boy, was it ever good! Today, however, I’m not feeling hungry for cake or pie or even cookies for that matter.

No ma’am, today I am craving sweet and salty. So what else could I do other than making pretzel turtle treats? You guys, these are incredibly simple to make and they turn out smashingly well.

You can give these away as little gifts, send to school as a classroom treat (be wary of the pecans and allergies), or simply savor them yourself. I don’t think a candy that has reached this level of goodness could ever be any easier to make.

I Could Eat That Praline Topping With A Spoon!

I will never forget Thanksgiving dinners at our house, as they were quite the extravagant event while I was growing up.

We had so many family members and friends packed into our house for hours and hours. People would always stay for lunch and dinner, both. My favorite part of this food fest were the incredible desserts, and there were always many. I especially loved the pumpkin pie! My mom would make the best one on the planet. She always served hers with some whipped cream and each slice was better than the next.

The other day I was browsing through my favorite food blogs for some pumpkin pie recipes that might differ from the classic versions. I came across this adorable pumpkin pie with pecan praline topping over at I Sing In The Kitchen, and I couldn’t be happier! This pie looks so stunning. And guess what? It tastes like a dream come true. Have you tried this version of pumpkin pie yet?

That Topping Is Out Of This World!

I love breakfast time. I didn’t use to be a morning person at all, so it was really hard for me to get out of bed early, let alone eat something at that hour.

I don’t know if it’s because I’ve gotten older, or if my “inner clock” has somehow fixed itself over the years, but now I really enjoy early mornings and tasty breakfast dishes. And, of course, I can’t start my day without a nice cup of dark roast coffee!

Whatever I’m having for breakfast, there’s gotta be coffee. And when there’s coffee, I really love a little sweet treat to go with it. Sometimes it is hard to come by as I do not always stock up on donuts or cake since I will just spend the whole day eating that. But, every now and then I find a recipe that I am able to make over the weekend and enjoy a little bit every morning with breakfast.

This coffee cake is one of my favorites, and even though it has some classic fall flavors, I wouldn’t mind eating this year ’round!
