This Casserole Is Easy To Make – And Even Easier To Devour!

Did you know that the Australian equivalent to a corn dog is known as a Dagwood Dog, Pluto Pup, or Dippy Dog? That’s a fun fact I just recently learned, and apparently it depends on the region which one they call it. I kinda like Dagwood Dog so I may have to start calling the old-fashioned corn dog that! My family would probably think I’ve gone nuts…

Whatever you call it, corn dog is a classic that Americans have grown to love. I guess we all have that favorite stand where they sell the best corn dogs ever, or a childhood memory of the county fair where you could eat as many corn dogs as you wanted. I can’t remember the first corn dog I ever ate, but I sure remember the latest. And I have to say it was something really special!

You see, I tried this delicious corn dog casserole from MommaH and I immediately fell in love with it. It’s such a great, no-hassle meal for the whole family – and the kids were absolutely crazy about it.

I absolutely love going to the state fair.

Every year since I was a baby, my parents took all their kids to the fair.  We loved riding everything (although my mom was always freaking out thinking something would break down!), watching the shows, seeing the exhibits, petting the animals and getting our Dippin’ Dots.  All of it was the highlight of our trip and we looked forward to it as if it was the best thing to come around town all year!  And it was!

Now fast forward a few years and I am part of the adult team that goes.  I still love going every year whether it is to ride or watch the kids.  But, my favorite part of the trip is no longer the exhibits or rides, but the food.

But my favorite has always been the corn dogs. I love slathering those up with ketchup and eating away.  Right across the way from my favorite corn dog stand is a little kid’s basketball game, so I always make the little kids play for a bit so I can enjoy my corn dog in peace.  To me, it is the best part of the trip.

You don’t need to be taken out to the ball game to enjoy this delicious American classic. It’s such a simple recipe; you won’t believe you never thought of this before!

When I first made these little corn dog muffin snacks, my kids went gaga over them. And I must say, hubby dear was almost as excited as they were! These little nuggets of sunshine take on 25 minutes to prep and cook, and the ingredients are simple and fool-proof. The recipe yields 24 flying-off-the-plate muffins.

You’ll be glad you made these and so will your family. I enjoy preparing corn dog muffins when my kids have sleepovers. They are easy to make and they keep hungry bellies satisfied. These muffins also make the greatest grab-and-run breakfast for those mornings when you have to rush out the door.

I do have one extra tip to give you; just make a double batch! They will still be gone before you know it!
