Have you heard? Carrot cake is all the rage when serving dessert at a dinner party.

Aunt Murrielle’s classic carrot cake is everyone’s favorite. My aunt loves to cook anything using vegetables as her main ingredients. Whenever we have a reunion and she is the one assigned to make something, we always expect her to make a cake such as a cucumber cake or even bean sprout cookies. The good thing about it is that you will not really mind that they are vegetables because they taste so good! All of my nieces and nephews, including my two kids, actually love all of her desserts. I have a lot of nephews who throw tantrums whenever they have to eat vegetables, but Aunt Murrielle’s desserts are always the exception. I even see a couple of my cousins begging her for her recipes, but she wouldn’t give them.

Aunt Murielle’s classic carrot cake is something that everyone requests even if it’s just for an afternoon tea. She makes the softest and the moistest carrot cake that everyone just couldn’t resist. Her classic carrot cake is already an institution in our reunions.

You are pretty sure that the serving platter will be empty by the end of a meal because everyone would really want a slice. I am not sure what is Aunt Murrielle’s secret, but everyone truly cannot say no to a slice of her wonderful carrot cake recipe!

sponge cake

Did I ever tell you about my grandma’s famous sponge cake recipe? Welp, settle in folks because you’re about to hear it.

This sponge cake recipe is a must-know for every woman. My mother has always said that a girl needs to have a basic knowledge of any recipe in the kitchen. It’s because these basic recipes are actually what will help you create the more complicated recipes. She told me that if I want to make a complicated stew, I should know how to make a basic beef stew. If I want to make a really beautiful cake, I should be able to make a simple pound cake or a simple sponge cake, which are mostly the base for most cakes. My mom has her own sponge cake recipe, but I figured that sometimes, I need to find something on my own.

This sponge cake recipe is what I found. It’s very simple and very easy to make, but you will be surprised at how well it will turn out. Just follow all the steps indicated and you will have your perfect sponge cake by the end of it all.

This sponge cake recipe gives you the best moist sponge cake that I have ever tasted. Everyone will surely fall in love with this once you serve it to them. Other than that, you can make this simple sponge cake into a full-blown cake if it’s for a special occasion!

USE THE RED NEXT PAGE LINK BELOW FOR THE RECIPE AND INGREDIENTS.

Quick tip: The sponge cake will bake better if you don’t use a convection oven, meaning use heat coming from top and bottom only. Also, do not open the oven until the baking time is over.

american goulash

This American goulash may not be what your granny used to make but by golly it sure is good!

There are so many ways to make goulash and everyone claims that their way is the right way. How about the way that tastes the best is the right way? The following recipe on the next page is for a slow cooker American goulash that is covered in ooey, gooey cheese. Gasp! “How can that be goulash?!” some of you might say. Well, it’s goulash because I say it’s goulash LOL Seriously, guys and gals, this Crock Pot goulash is seriously good and easy to make.

I like to start the American goulash about mid-morning and it is ready by early afternoon. I just set my slow cooker settings to warm and allow it to sit until dinnertime. It’s so hearty and filling!

What types of sides do y’all enjoy serving with your American goulash? I personally prefer a side salad and garlic bread. Sometimes, I’ll make garlic-seasoned green beans. Serve whatever tickles your fancy 🙂

Quick Tip: Feel free to use any flavor of cheese that you prefer in this goulash. You can also leave it out completely if you want.

breaded pork chops

Breaded pork chops will have your family RUNNING to the sound of the dinner bell.

I make a lot of breaded pork chop recipes, but this one totally stands out! My family loves breaded meat. My husband loves it the most when I use panko breadcrumbs. He loves the extra crunch and the real bread taste it possesses. While it’s a bit messy, I love it when my sons enjoy the food. And they usually enjoy breaded meat. The eat a lot, actually, and they love eating this with rice and gravy.

This Italian breaded pork chops recipe was a recipe recommended to me by a friend through an email. She sent the link to me, knowing that my family loves this kind of dish. So I immediately tried it the next day. Do I even need to say that it has been a huge hit? I served it for lunch because I know it will be quite heavy. I served this with mashed potatoes and blanched asparagus. They go so well with this tasty pork chop recipe.

Their plates were all clean by the end of lunch! Even if they asked for another serving, there wasn’t anything left to serve. I usually just cook one extra, and that extra was devoured by my husband.

7 easy crockpot recipes crock pot brown sugar chicken

It was my husband’s turn to make dinner for us. He decided on an easy recipe and made Crock Pot brown sugar chicken.

Between running to basketball, soccer, dance, band, choir, and whatever other after school activities my kids decide they want to sign up for, making dinner is pretty much out of the question. We so often will grab a sub sandwich from the convenience store or drive-thru for burgers. It’s so impersonal and even more, unhealthy. I feel terrible every time we do it, but for a long time, I felt like there were no other options for us.

That was until I went to stay with my mom for a weekend. I started explaining to her my issues, and she went right out and bought me a slow cooker that very same day.

I can’t believe I have never had one of these things. I think she was more shocked that I wasn’t already using one. The very first thing that she told me to cook in it was this crock pot brown sugar chicken from the web.

There weren’t a lot of complicated steps or ingredients, so it’s just right for someone starting out, or on the go or both. This crock pot brown sugar chicken came out so juicy and tender, my whole family really loved it.

We even had time to sit down as a family for once and enjoy it!

strawberry cake

Mom is very particular about her storefront. One day, my brothers and I wanted her to make strawberry cake so we placed a sign outside of her pizza shop.

We had to take some time and celebrate this man that had done so much to help us out over the years. He was still up and very active and ready to party. We couldn’t keep it a surprise, just because there was no way that we could ever keep anything from him. So, I decided to just ask him what kind of cake he wanted me to order for him. He said, “I want you to make me one of yours from your own kitchen!” Well, okay then. I’ve always been pretty good at baking, but I didn’t realize that he liked it that much.

If that’s what he wanted though, that’s what I was going to do for him. I knew he loved strawberries, and they were in season, so that’s the direction I headed in. Strawberry cake!

I found this recipe for strawberry cake on the web and it looked absolutely perfect for the occasion. My dad saw it when I brought it out loaded with candles and he got a great big smile on his face. That smile made it all worth the extra work I had to put in.

amish macaroni salad

Old Order Amish have some of the best recipes in the land. This macaroni salad is one of them.

Macaroni salad is one of those foods that can be eaten over and over again. Every picnic or BBQ that I have ever gone too always has a big old bowl of mac salad sitting on the table in all of its glory. My mother would always make macaroni salad when I was a kid. She’d use different recipes from time to time and sometimes put tuna in her mac salad. As a child, I didn’t enjoy that ingredient very much but as I got older I learned to like it. My little sister, Amanda, always liked the tuna fish so she happily ate it whenever mom made the salad that way.

Anyway, enough reminiscing, the recipe we are chatting about today is from an old Amish cookbook. You’re gonna love it!

If you’d like to learn more about this recipe and make it for yourself, please flip on over to the next page for the details. Enjoy!
