If It’s This Delicious, It Can’t Be Healthy… Right?

My younger brother was the pickiest eater on the face of the Earth when he was young. Seriously!

He had about 5 to 10 dishes he liked (very carefully chosen, of course) and everything else was just inedible to him. My Mom would stress over his health because he sure wasn’t going to eat his veggies, no matter what she tried to serve him. That’s why we were stunned when we found out there was this one vegetable dish he really liked.

I remember my Mom telling me it was a pure accident she discovered that veggie dish. She happened to have potatoes, tomatoes and onions and decided to make a veggie casserole as a side dish for the salmon she was cooking. My brother didn’t even touch the salmon but for some reason I can’t understand, he wanted to have a taste of the veggie casserole. He loved it!

“It wasn’t supposed to be banana!” My brother’s words when he was a kid always reverberates inside my head whenever I hear the word, “pudding”. It never fails to make me laugh, lighting up my mood instantly. When we were kids, there was this incident that involved strawberries, banana, and my brother. He loved strawberries so much that Mom always kept a couple of packages on the fridge just to satiate my brother’s love for them. Whenever he behaved in school (he was a cry baby who always wanted to go home even though he just stepped inside the school grounds), Mom would promise to make him his favorite dessert, which was strawberry pudding.

That day, my brother was very quiet. We all thought that he would cause a scene in school so Mom didn’t go to the grocery to buy fresh strawberries. But he shocked us all. He stayed in school all day and went home even looking excited. Mom knew he would throw a tantrum if he didn’t get the reward, so she had to make do with whatever fruits we had on hand. It happened to be bananas. Fortunately, there were very few ingredients Mom had to substitute. When my brother saw the dessert during dinner, he threw the biggest tantrum I have ever seen in my entire life! Oh God, he was crying so hard and shouting, “It wasn’t supposed to be banana!”. He could have won an acting award for making it a big deal! It still embarrasses him until now.

Even Your Grandma Would Beg For The Recipe

My mother-in-law makes the best meatballs in the world. At least that’s what I always thought!

I also thought I would never ever make her meatballs for dinner, because my recipes couldn’t even come close to the one she was using. It would be kind of embarrassing to serve her meatballs that were only mediocre, so I figured I wouldn’t even try.

But then I came across this recipe! I made these just for myself and my husband, just to see what they’re like. They turned out so tasty, and so different from any of the meatballs I had tried before, that I decided to make these for dinner when my in-laws were coming over. I was so nervous when my mother-in-law took the first bite! But she loved these as much as I did, and she even asked for the recipe! These sweet and sour meatballs are sure to become your favorite, too.

Quick Tip: Instead of using a skillet, you could brown the meatballs in the oven for about 2o minutes.

This delicious Cincinnati chili will put a big ‘ol smile on your face!

Chili, for me, has always been a big simmering pot of tomatoes, beans, ground beef, and chopped up green peppers all swimming in a hot tub of seasonings. That’s basically what you get with the following recipe except the seasonings are a bit on the odd side. However, stick with it, folks because these ingredients make this Cincinnati chili totally praise-worthy. Another great thing about this yummy recipe is that it is served over a bed of pasta noodles.

So delicious and comforting! This is the perfect meal to make on a cold winter’s day. Enjoy!

Hello, friends! I hope you are all doing well on this blustery, wintery, cold January morning.

Maybe some of you aren’t cold because you live someplace warm. I’m jealous of you! LOL Anyway, who here overindulged in sweets and yummy foods over the holidays? I’d be lying if I told you that I have not because I basically ate my way through Christmas. So now that it is January and a new year it is time to get back on track and take those extra pounds off. The right way to do this is by making good foods that are healthy but still taste good. This baked chicken does just that.

Have any of you ever substituted sour cream for greek yogurt? If you use plain greek yogurt it tastes just like sour cream, no joke. I’ve eaten it on a baked potato once and couldn’t even tell the difference.

Quick Tip: If you don’t have any Greek yogurt you may use sour cream as a substitute but take note that this will significantly up the fat and calorie count.

Combine These Surprising Ingredients For A Soup That Will Become Your No.1 Favorite

When fall turns to winter, it always kind of scares me a little. The weather can get pretty cold where I live, and I’m more of a fan of summer heatwaves. But I have to admit there is at least one thing I really enjoy about the coldness, and winter in general. It’s the silent moments when I can sit by the fireplace, under the crocheted blanket my grandma made, with a bowl of hot soup in my hand.

This here is the perfect soup for those moments. While I love a nice, creamy chicken soup, sometimes I crave a leaner option. And I honestly feel like soups made with stock, rather than cream, seem to warm you up better. This spicy soup with mushrooms and spinach will make those winter evenings much easier for me – and I’m pretty sure I’ll learn to even love this season a little!

Argo cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, barilla pasta, Bertolli extra-virgin olive oil, black pepper, Bob's Red Mill, Borden, brown sugar, Campbell’s soups, casserole, Chiquita, Clabber Girl, College Inn, Cool Whip, crock pot, Daisy sour cream, dessert, Dole, domino sugar, eat, Eggland's Best eggs, fisher nuts, food, Gold Medal flour, granulated sugar, Green Giant, Hershey, Hodgkin’s Mill, Jell-O, Jif peanut butter, Johnsonville, keebler, Kerrygold butter, kosher salt, Kraft, land o lakes butter, Libby, McCormick spices, Morton salt, Pam Cooking Spray, Pepperidge Farm, Philadelphia cream cheese, Powdered sugar, recipe, Ritz crackers, Sara Lee, Sargento, slow cooker, Strawberry Pineapple Pretzel Dessert, Thorn Apple Valley, Toll House, TruMoo milk, tyson, vanilla, vanilla extract, Vlasic, Wesson vegetable oil, whipped topping

As a little girl, I can distinctly remember going to many church potlucks with my family and finding strawberry pretzel dessert on the table.

The ladies of the church called it “strawberry pretzel salad.” Now, to me, a salad contained lettuce, tomatoes, and croutons with a hefty serving of Ranch dressing. However, after one bite I didn’t really care what they called it because this stuff was ding dang good! And would you believe me if I told you stumbled upon an even better recipe than the one I used to devour at the church?

The following recipe is for a strawberry PINEAPPLE pretzel dessert. Yep, there is pineapple tossed into the mix of awesomeness. I didn’t think this dessert could get any better but it did and it’s all thanks to one tropical fruit.

Quick Tip: I like to use Rold Gold pretzels in this recipe.
